Preventing Contamination in Harvested Cotton (Collins & Edmisten)

— Written By

Contamination of harvested cotton has become a very important issue over the past few years. This is an issue that affects ALL growers, and should be addressed in order to maintain our marketability and sustainability as an industry. North Carolina is currently very competitive in the cotton industry, and we want to maintain our position as producers of quality and marketable cotton globally. Growers and ginners are strongly encouraged to take the simple necessary steps to especially prevent plastic contamination from entering harvested lint.

The National Cotton Council has developed some excellent information and a video regarding this issue, as seen below. Please take the time to learn this information, and adopt necessary practices that will benefit you, on your farm, as well as our industry as whole.
