2017 County Meetings for Cotton Production

The 2017 meeting season is upon us.  We currently have several cotton production meetings slated across the state from January 31st through February 27th.  These meetings will include the latest applied research and extension recommendations regarding cotton agronomics, variety selection, insect and weed control.  Be sure to contact your local county extension agent for details about these production meetings near you.  Additionally, meeting dates and times for these production meetings can be found at the NCSU Cotton Website under “Events” near the top of the main page.

Additionally, there will be separate trainings offered to producers by Drs. York, Jordan, and Everman, regarding best management practices for the new auxin herbicides.  These trainings are mandatory for growers intending to use these new herbicide products in the 2017 season and beyond.  Below is an announcement from NCDA and NCSU Cooperative Extension regarding these mandatory trainings, indicating who should attend, and where to find additional information about these trainings.

The link below contains a list of dates, locations, and times for the mandatory auxin trainings.  There will be a total of 36 trainings statewide from January 30th – March 23rd, so be sure to attend one near you.  The reason we mention these trainings here is that many (but not all) of the trainings will occur on the same day as your local cotton production meeting.  In those instances, the auxin training and production meeting will occur consecutively, allowing you to attend both. In many other cases, the auxin training will occur independently of cotton production meetings.  It is important to note that the auxin trainings are not exclusive only to cotton producers, as they apply to soybean producers as well.
